Swim Meet is an indie rock band created by Danny Clayton and Heather Alpine Bech, hailing from Carolinas. The duo have been collaborating for almost seven years, having toured the Southeastern United States with other local musicians playing at festivals and venues such as The Pour House (Raleigh, NC), Isis (Asheville, NC), Preservation Pub (Knoxville, TN), The Grey Eagle (Asheville, NC), Awendaw Green (Awendaw, SC), Oscar Blues (Brevard, NC), The Station (Carrboro, NC), The Cave (Chapel Hill, NC), Vello Fellow (Greenville, SC), Surf Bar (Folly Beach, SC), On The Rox (Richmond, VA), Taste of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), Steppin’ Out Festival (Blacksburg, VA), and Fall for Greenville (Greenville, SC). Since the world was shut down in 2020, they have spent their time in the studio finalizing songs and recordings.

Swim Meet’s music captures a more sporty fun side of the duo and their music making endeavors. It’s all about seeking adventure, an element of the “forever young” nature.

“Oh Girl” is their first single release. Many more songs are scheduled for release this 2023. Stay tuned.

The band will also be releasing a “Lost Pet Album” in the near future, with consoling songs for those who too have lost furfriends.

Danny Clayton is a songwriter, guitarist, bassist and has toured the United States playing college, punk and acoustic folk in venues such as CBGBs, The Black Cat, and Gramps. He is also the primary producer and recording engineer for Swim Meet.

Alpine is an award-winning pianist with a degree in music and film from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, having performed with several math-rock, folk, and indie rock bands in California and the Carolinas. Alpine also is swimming nut: lifeguard, swim coach, olympic time trials qualifier, and UNC college athletics. Hence their name.
